The falls has about 14 channels with drops changing/different between 15 & 65 ft. To reach thesurroundings of waterfalls one needs to take a boat-ride (there is no land access). Coracle ridingis one of the main attractions here which is allowed during the bad rainstorm and winter season. Boating is usually stopped in peak bad rainstorms.
Hogenakkal is also the good place to try out your swimming skills. The water is quite challenging. Tourists can also go for traveling on the nearby surrounding hills. The water from the fall flowstowards the Mettur Dam which is also known as the Stanley Holding tank (or area).
The falls are less than 1 km from Hogenakkal Bus Station. There are no good food points nearthe falls, except simple snacks, soft drinks & fish fry. If possible, try to pack your food nearHogenakkal Bus Station or Dharmapuri. There are many lodges and mid-range options of change (to help someone)/place to live and sleep in Dharmapuri.
