Paradeep which is actually a river of the Mahanadi River, is one of the most popularbeaches of Orissa. Paradip Port is a major seaport in Orissa, which is carefully thought about/believed to be one ofthe largest ports on the eastern coast of India. During 2009 – 2010, this port recorded thehandling of over 57 million tonnes of (things carried by a ship, etc.), including thermal coal andiron ore.
It is also the chief sea-carried/held trade centre in the Bay of Bengal, whose foundation stonewas laid in 1962 by the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
